About the Role

 

Summary: 

 

The Assistant Trade Marketing Manager reports to the Trade Marketing Manager and is a key contributor to sales planning and trade-marketing activities across all Professional Products channels.  The role is also aimed at building our Professional Products trade marketing capabilities to increase awareness, trial, distribution, sales, and profit of the Ghirardelli Professional Products.  This role will develop compelling fact-based selling stories using consumer insights for PPD sales presentations with specific emphasis on key strategic customers.  This role will also contribute to sales planning activities of the division, including, trade spending and sales plan development and develop programs for communicating our new items with existing and new customers.

Scope of Responsibilities:

 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of independence and resilience 

  • Sales Plans Development and Rollout: Assist in creating annual sales plans and sales materials including the annual sales brochure and master sales presentation.   

  • Fact Based Sales Presentations: Build fact based selling stories using consumer insights (Datassentials, IFMA, other resources) for the PPD sales organization, with special focus on national accounts

  • Trade Marketing Activation: Developing consumer marketing programs to support promotions, LTOs and new item launches.  Coordinate internally across departments including social media as well as with the sales team and customers directly as appropriate.

  • GPS Planning: Manages DOT Foods and national accounts trade promotion and GPS planning 

  • Customer Documentation Management: Serve as key point of contact for turning around customer contracts and documentation requests by working with internal teams to complete forms and surveys, as well as gather documents needed by customers. Work closely with QA/regulatory, R&D, legal assistant, etc.

  • GS1 Program: Lead Ghirardelli set up and implementation of GS1 for Professional Products Division

  • Leads Management:  Generates sales leads for PPD.  Utilize social media, email, Ghirardelli website and other sources to generate sales leads for new customers. Disperses sales opportunities to the sales team and tracks results.  

  • Special Projects: Provide additional support as needed, such as assisting with special projects.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, JDE, Cognos, Internet) 

 

Education and Work Experience: 

  • BA Required

  • MBA Degree Preferred

  • Minimum 5 -7 years experience in Foodservice or CPG environment.

  • Experience in sales and trade marketing.
